I am very new at this, well never done anything with 8mm yet, but anyway... I happend to come across a bag with some sound film in it. It has been in there for...??? 20 years or so... not stored in a freezer ar anything just in the basment. Is it any good you think, or not even worth the troble???

I would suggest that you get a sound camera, shoot the film, develop it, and see what happens. Many people here have shot 20+ year old film and gotten decent images from their old film. However, basements are not the best place for film storage, especially if the basement is damp. As long as the film was in its original unopened box, always dry, and not exposed to direct sunlight, you should be able to get viewable but not perfect images from the film.
Considering the film's age, you should consider the following lab:

They are expensive and they take their time, but they are professional film restorers (there is not a film stock that they cannot develop--or so they claim) and will go the extra mile to get the most out of your film.
What film stock is the film, if you don't mind my asking?

the film is in unopened boxes and it is kodak ektachrome 160 sound color film (type A)
and do you have any suggestions on a good sound camera, i have seen a few on ebay, but i know nothing as of yet about the brands.
